Just like with something such as e-sports, people don't believe certain things justify payment, even though they really are more than just "Making videos" or "Playing a game". You're an entertainer or an athlete at that point

Yeah, and the stupid thing is, people rarely realize the thousands of hours put in to be a good entertainer or good athlete.

I think it's a combination of these professions are still new and born out of hobbies, they're not taken as seriously as "real" sports or tv producers. I'm sure several years from now they'll be more accepted. Like how "real' sports isn't considered just a hobby when done professionally.

This was hilarious when I found out about it. The fact that it ended up with so much bad publicity for them was just so funny. Did they really think this would go well?
