Have any of you tried a mechanical keyboard before? Have you heard of them and shown interest?

As someone who's been using them for about a year and a half, and uses a computer daily, I can say they're a great investment for someone who wants a better experience in both typing, and playing games.  They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, prices, with their own attractive traits and feel vastly different, depending on what you're going for.

It's one of those things that's apples and oranges because they just feel different to the alternative, and one side says it helps a lot, while other say it doesn't do for them.

Personally I don't really need one, especially when I live a mobile life where a laptop suites all my needs, so spending money on a keyboard isn't going to cut it for me. Also all I do on my computer is fuck around on the interwebz and record tons of music.

Then, yeah. You're definitely not in need of one. But if you ever did extensive typing/gameplay on the daily, I've loved using the two that I've owned.

Not big on the glossy finish. Blank keycaps are just fine and actually look nice, though I wouldn't use them. I do love the usb passthrough ports as well. If it's not too expensive I'd consider it a keeper.

This was my Christmas gift for this year, and was a pleasant treat:

I'm actually not too picky on keyboards, but it does happen that I have a mechanical keyboard. It has springs and shit in it, which I think is cool.

I've always wondered how spring keyboards felt, but they're pretty dated now.

They're not really dated. The one I have is a USB keyboard from like 2007. It wasn't expensive at the time or anything. It feels smoother than a modern keyboard, actually. Although, that's probably a consequence of being more used to it.

I own a Corsair K70 RGB Keyboard that is cherry brown. Mechanical is definitely the most comfy for me.

I have yet to try browns when it comes to the 3 popular Cherry switches. I hear they don't give as much feedback as blues by a longshot though.

This is true. They only have a slight "bump" for feedback, and they don't make a click sound at all.
